The Sky Above Your Ceremony, Kept

One venue, one date, one sky that will not repeat. We plot it exactly as it stood over the ceremony, with the place and coordinates printed underneath.

Why It Lands

What Makes This a Good Gift

The Ceremony Sky

Calculated for the venue and the hour, so it is the sky the two of you actually stood under.

Nobody Duplicates It

A gift the couple cannot already own and no other guest can bring by accident.

Anywhere In The World

A ceremony abroad is no harder than one at home, and the sky visibly differs. The coordinates record where.

Print It More Than Once

The same night, a different message under each, for both sets of parents and the couple.

The Thinking

A Star Map for Weddings

Weddings generate a great deal of paper and very little that survives the first move. A star map of the day tends to survive, because it is the rare wedding object that is not decorated with the word "wedding" — it reads as astronomy to anyone who does not know, and as the day itself to the two people who do.

It works from either direction. Guests buy it as a gift that will not duplicate the ten other things on the list, since nobody else will arrive with the same coordinates. Couples buy it for themselves, or print several for the parents, using the same sky with a different message under each.

The venue matters more than people expect. A wedding abroad produces a noticeably different sky from one at home, and printing the coordinates underneath quietly records that the day happened somewhere specific — which is usually the detail that gets lost in the photographs.

Choosing a Date

Which Night Do You Put On It?

This is the part that stalls people. Any of these work, and none of them needs to be exact to the minute.

The ceremony

Use the time the vows happened rather than the reception. It is the hour the day is actually about, and guests recognise it immediately.

The proposal

For a wedding gift that predates the wedding. It marks the moment the couple chose each other rather than the day they announced it.

The first dance

A later, darker sky than the ceremony, and a different view. Worth choosing if the evening is the part you want to remember.

An anniversary of the wedding

For couples already married, the original wedding night still calculates perfectly, however long ago it was.

I purchased a Starry Maps print as a wedding gift, and it exceeded every expectation. The map arrived right on time and in perfect condition, carefully packaged and beautifully made. The print itself is stunning — a gorgeous, detailed snapshot of the night sky on my friends’ wedding night. They were truly touched by how meaningful and unique it was. This is such a special keepsake, and I couldn’t be happier with the quality and experience. Highly recommend!

Questions

Before You Order

Should I use the ceremony time or the reception?

The ceremony, in most cases. It is the moment the day is named after, and it is the answer the couple will give if anyone asks what time the map shows. Use the reception only if the evening is the part that mattered more to you.

Can I order one before the wedding happens?

Yes. A future date calculates exactly as well as a past one, because the positions are computed rather than looked up. That makes it workable as an engagement gift or as something waiting on the day itself.

Can I order several with different messages?

Yes, and it is a common request for parents of the couple. Place each as its own order with the same date, time and place, and change only the title and message.

Which format suits a wedding gift best?

A framed print, usually — it can be given ready to hang rather than as something the couple has to deal with later. Canvas suits a larger wall and needs no glass.
